DIES AT BLAIR HOME

Peter F. Peterson Expires Monday Afternoon After Long Illness

Peter F. Peterson was born in Orsla, Norway January 13, 1850, and died at his home on South street on Monday afternoon following an illness of nearly a year. The deceased had been in good health until last May, since which time he had been bedfast.

At the age of seventeen he came to this state, landing at Omaha where he took up a position with the Union Pacific railroad and helped build their first lines west of that city. About three years later he decided to take up farming and came to Washington county. He took up a homestead in the Spiker neighborhood where he lived until 1906. Shortly after moving to this county Mr. Peterson married and to this union five children were born, all of whom are living. He was one of the pioneers of Washington county and often related stories of the hardships that were endured in the early days. In 1906 Mr. and Mrs. Peterson moved to this city, leaving two of the older sons to farm the home place. He at first moved to a house in the east part of the city and later built the house in which he died.

Besides his bereaved wife, the deceased leaves to mourn his loss three sons, Fred and John Henry of Spiker and Harold of Riverhead, N. Y., and two daughters, Mrs. W. H. Ralph of Telbasta and Ellen who resides at the home.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday afternoon from the family home.
