The funeral services of Mrs. Paul Bieger of Tea, South Dakota were held in the local Lutheran church on Friday afternoon amid the participation of a large circle of her friends and all the members of her immediate family. Rev. F. C. Schuldt had charge of the services and spoke very briefly in the German language of her exemplary character as a Christian and mother during her career as the wife of a minister of the gospel. He was followed by Dr. J. F. Krueger, president of Midland College, who paid a glowing tribute to her memory in the English language. Rev. Christian Sick of Fremont, a former pastor of the congregation offered a prayer and Rev. P. Waldschmidt of Pender spoke a few words of sympathy in behalf of Lutheran Synod, of which Rev. Paul Bieger is a member. The local church choir sang several appropriate selections. The floral tributes were very profuse and beautiful. The pallbearers were August Hartung, H. H. Niebaum, Fred Riethmueller, Fred Pfeiffer, W. H. Ruwe and George Franke. The attendance from a distance beside the immediate family were Miss Francis Opper of Milwaukee, Wis., a sister of the deceased, Rev. E. Von Nussbaum of Bennington, Rev. R. W. Lewis and Rev. G. Duehrkop of Hooper, Dr. J. F. Kruger and Rev. Christian Sick of Fremont, Rev. P. Waldschmidt of Pender and Rev. P. O. Spehr of Wisner. She was married to Rev. Paul Bieger at Manister, Wisconsin on February 17, 1895. Five children were born to this union, of whom four beside the husband mourn her death. One son died in infancy. The immediate surviving relatives are her husband, Rev. Paul Bieger, Helen and Arnold Bieger of Tea, South Dakota, Mrs. Fred Schopke of Fremont and Everett Bieger of Yutan, Neb. One granddaughter, Margaret Schopke of Fremont. During the years of her married life she resided in different places in Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota where she made a host of friends. Her husband was pastor of the Lutheran church in Fontanelle from 1904 to 1909. She was a woman possessed of a beautiful Christian character with the thought of giving assistance to others whenever needed, constantly before her mind. Her health failed gradually, the immediate cause of her death being kidney and liver trouble. She passed away in a hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Monday evening at 11:30 o’clock with all the members of her family at her bedside.
