W. C. BERNHARD

W. C. Bernhard, an old settler of Washington county, died suddenly of heart failure at his home in Blair on Saturday, October 11.

Deceased was born in Morgantown, West Virginia in 1851. He was married to Miss Eliza Crawford March 27, 1881 at Orion, Ill.

He came to Nebraska about thirty six years ago and has since made this his home. The wife passed away on April 1, 1927 and shortly after this Mr. Bernhard retired from the active duties of farming and moved to Blair where he spent the last few years in quiet and comfort, making occasional visits to his relatives which he enjoyed greatly. He was a man of strong likes and dislikes, strictly honest and of that sterling character which was much admired by his friends who knew him best.

The funeral services were held on last Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock from the Methodist church and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

He leaves to mourn his death one daughter, Mrs. Frank Thompson, residing just west of blair; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Minor of Orion, Ill. and Mrs. Clyde Thompson of San Diego, Calif., and one brother, L. F. Bernhard of Kansas City, Mo.
