On Thursday, Oct. 30, Mrs. Hattie E. Pollard of Lincoln, passed on at an Omaha hospital, after an illness of several months duration; aged 75 years, 9 months and 7 days. She is survived by her aged husband, James M. Pollard, and two brothers, A. Towne of Santa Anna, Calif., and L. E. Towne of Sargent, Neb., besides several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Hattie E. Towne was born in Ill. and came to Neb. in the early 80’s. She was well known, both in Washington and Douglas counties, as an efficient and successful teacher for over 20 years. During this time she was married to Ira F. Gilbert and was a resident of this place for a number of years. A few years after the death of Mr. Gilbert, she removed to Lincoln where on June 14, 1911 she was united in marriage to James M. Pollard of Craig, where they resided for a short time, then they went to Lincoln where they had since lived. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian church at Lincoln. Funeral services were held at the Ft. Calhoun Presbyterian church Sunday at 2 p.m., Rev. W. H. Hunter, pastor of the Benson Presbyterian church, officiating. Pallbearers were J. W. Trisler, Hugh Vaughan, Wm. and F. H. Frahm, A. J. Peterson and Guy Slader. Interment was in the Ft. Calhoun cemetery.
