OLD RESIDENT CALLED

Edward Francis Skinner, living southwest of Herman, passed away Friday, Sept., 27 at the age of 81 years. He had been ill for nearly a year, having taken down last winter with pneumonia. After weeks of serious illness he partially recovered, but on account of his age was unable to get back his normal health, and it was from the effects of this illness that he passed away.

Deceased was born in Buchanan county, Mo., where he grew to manhood. On Nov. 1, 1871 he married America Catherine Thompson, and to them four children were born, three of whom are still living.

The family came to this county thirty five years ago and have resided on the same farm for about twenty five years. The wife passed away ten years ago and since that time the father has made his home with the son, Edgar, and it was at his home that he passed away.

Mr. Skinner was a member of the Baptist church for almost sixty years, and he lived the part, always keeping faith with his church in his everyday life.

He leaves to mourn him two brothers and two sisters besides the three children, Mrs. Charles Devall and Edgar Skinner of Herman, and Mrs. Ella Raver of Blair.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Sept. 29 at the Baptist church in Herman and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
