William Alexander, age 72, for many years a resident of Arlington, passed away on Monday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Emil Johnson. While in poor health for some time, Mr. Alexander was only seriously ill since last Friday. He is survived by his children: Hiram of Merna, Mrs. Cecil Burt of Ansley, Mrs. Clarence Werner of Omaha, Floyd of Kennard, Harry of Omaha and Mrs. Emil Johnson of Arlington.

William Alexander was born at Springfield, Illinois, July 2, 1857 and departed this life June 2, 1930 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Emil Johnson, near Arlington, Nebraska at the age of 72 years, 10 months, and 25 days.

He and his father came from Illinois to Nebraska in the fall of 1882 to join other relatives and settled at Elk City, there taking part in the early development of this part of the state.

March 27, 1897 he was united in marriage to Laura Tobler of Valley. To this union were born six children; Hiram Alexander of Merna, Nebr., Mrs. Wilma Werner and Harry Alexander of Omaha; Mrs. Clarice Burt of Ansley, Nebr., Mrs. Bernice Johnson of Arlington and Floyd Alexander of Kennard.

Besides the immediate family, he leaves to mourn his departure other relatives and friends.
