John O. Burmeister, 78, of Blair, died Sept. 1, 2000, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Gregg Miller will officiate. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Omaha.

John O. Burmeister was born March 30, 1922, in Washington County to John and Elizabeth Burmeister.

Mr. Burmeister grew up in rural Fort Calhoun. He married Elaine Tyler in Benson on Feb. 23, 1946. His main occupation was farming in the Nebraska/Iowa area. He was a member of Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Burmeister's hobbies included fishing and hunting with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; a daughter and son-in-law, Louella and Roger Hansen of Ralston; and a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sue Burmeister of Blair; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Arnold and Richard; and three sisters, Elsie, Margaret and Helen.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gerry.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
