JAMES R. BURNS DIED SATURDAY

James Rufus Burns, construction foreman residing at Herman, died Saturday in the hospital at Blair. He was 55 years old.

Mr. Burns was born June 17, 1910 at Mountain Grove, Missouri. He became interested in river construction work which became his vocation. He was superintending a job in this area at the time of his death.

Mr. Burns is survived by his wife, Nadine, and by four daughters and a son. They are Mrs. Nola Solberg, of Underwood, Iowa; Mrs. Ida Nelson, of Omaha; Sue Burns and Deborah Burns, both at home in Herman. The son: James, Jr. also at home. Fred Ringer, who was raised by the family, lives in Omaha. A brother, Tom Burns, lives at Plattsmouth, Nebraska. There are six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Campbell Mortuary in Blair. The Rev. Dale Westadt conducted the service and burial, under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary, was made in the Herman cemetery.
