Nina L. Burns, 75, of Blair, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, in the meeting room at Park View Manor in Blair, where Mrs. Burns had been a resident since 1991. A luncheon will follow the service. Her ashes will be interred at a later date.

Nina L. Burns was born March 6, 1930, in Pisgah, Iowa, to Albert and Frieda (Beilenberg) Jones. She was a graduate of West Harrison High School, and lived in Little Sioux, Iowa, until moving to Blair in 1991.

She married Charles Douglas Burns on June 1, 1949. He preceded her in death in June 1972.

Mrs. Burns enjoyed making rugs, playing cards, and crafts.

She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, artistic ability, and her love of a good card game.

She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Schroder of Missouri Valley and Patricia Burns of Concord, Calif.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Francis Wannamaker and Karen Lantz, both of Omaha; brothers and sisters-in-law, Loren and Ann of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Donald and Maxine of Sioux City, Iowa, Lloyd and Dorothy of Annadale, Va., and Eldon and Linda of Lincoln; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin, and great-grandson, Jonathan.

CRASH KILLS BLAIR WOMAN

A Nebraska woman was killed in a two-car crash in Harrison County, Iowa, Wednesday afternoon.

Nina L. Burns, 75, was traveling east on U.S. Highway 30 about two miles from Blair, Neb., according to the Iowa State Patrol.

The four-door car Burns was driving drifted over the center line. Burns, of Blair, tried to bring the car back into her lane, but overcorrected. As she tried again to get back in her lane, a van hit the passenger side of the car.

The crash occurred at 1:37 p.m.

The other, driver, 35-year-old Brent Cuellar, also of Blair, was treated at a local hospital and released.
