Dorothy Ellen Burrell, 75, a resident of the Good Shepherd Home in Blair and formerly of Tekamah, passed away at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair on Wednesday, July 1, 1987, after a lengthy period of failing health.

She was born on April 15, 1912, at Tekamah to Minnie (Rockwell) and Edward Bruce.

She was united in marriage to Joseph L. Burrell on May 21, 1957, at Tekamah.

He passed away on June 9, 1983.

She worked for several years as a telephone operator in Tekamah. She had been a resident of the Good Shepherd Home in Blair for about one year.

Survivors include nine nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, George Bruce and Ernest Bruce, and one sister, Edna Bender.

Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 1987, at the Hamel & Peck Funeral Chapel in Tekamah with Rev. Marion H. Knoell officiating.

Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
