Funeral services for Mrs. Ed Gaines were conducted from the home of Fred Christensen on Saturday afternoon at two o’clock, Rev. Dillon of Valley officiating. Mrs. Gaines passed away at her home near Arlington on Wednesday following an illness of about a year’s duration. Grace Marie Vannatta was born in Oswego, N. Y. in Sept. 1890. On Sept. 10th, 1914 she was united in marriage to Ed Gaines and they spent most of their married life in this vicinity. Besides the husband, the deceased is survived by three children, Freda, age 9 years, Delbert, 3 years and Arletta, 3 months. Four brothers, four sisters and her mother, all living in New York also survive. One brother, Leon Vannatta will be present at the funeral. Interment will be made in the Elk City cemetery.

Funeral services were held on Saturday for Mrs. Ed Gaines who passed away on Wednesday at her home southeast of town. Mrs. Gaines had been a patient sufferer from cancer for some time. She leaves motherless three small children, the youngest only a few months old. The entire community extend sympathy to the bereaved family. Burial took place at Elk City.

While coming back to town Saturday after the Gaines funeral the hearse slid into a ditch and had to be pulled out. The steady drizzling rain made the roads very slippery.
