#1-25 July, 1929 - The Enterprise

Elzy Triplett, Sr., early day resident and one of the three remaining Civil War veterans of Herman, died here Friday, July 19 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ross Parrish. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Baptist church. Rev. T. J. Reese of Pawnee City, a former pastor, officiating. Burial was made in the local cemetery beside the wife who passed away about fourteen years ago. The Masons had charge of the services at the grave. Mr. Triplett would have celebrated his eighty fifth birthday August 31. The family lived on a farm one mile west of here for a number of years. Later moving into town where he has since resided. After the death of the wife, his daughter and husband came here from South Dakota and have since kept house for him. He is survived by two sons, Ray and Elzy of Herman, and two daughters, Mrs. Carrie Parrish of Herman and Mrs. Winifred Pipher of Crawford, Neb., a number of grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

#2-25 July, 1929 - The Pilot-Tribune Elza Triplett, Sr. died last Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ross Parrish at Herman, with whom he made his home since the death of his wife a few years ago. The deceased was 85 years of age. He had been a resident of Washington county for many years and held a wide acquaintance. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Herman Baptist church with Rev. Reese of Pawnee City officiating, after which interment was made in the Herman cemetery. Surviving him are two sons. Ray, Herman and Elzy, Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; and two daughters, Mrs. Winnie Pipher of Crawford, Neb. and Mrs. Ross Parrish of Herman. A number of grandchildren also survive.
