ANNA GROSS STEWART

Anna Gross was born Oct. 18, 1867 at Hillsboro, New Brunswick. In 1869 she came with her parents to Omaha, Nebraska, later moving to Blair, where she spent most of her life.

In the spring of 1884 she graduated from Blair High School, and the following September was married to James H. Stewart. To this union two daughters were born, Marguerite and Abbie.

Mrs. Stewart has been teaching in the Omaha public schools, and although she had been unwell for some time, she completed the work for the first semester of the current year before going to the hospital. There it was discovered that her disease was incurable, and she died Sunday morning, February 16th, 1930, aged 62 years, 3 months and 29 days.

She is survived by her sister, Miss Frances Gross, her daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Raitt of Paso Robles, Calif., and Mrs. Abbie Milliken of Ord, Neb., three grandsons, Robert Raitt and James and David Milliken, and a large circle of friends who cherish her memory.

The funeral service was held at her home, 64 W. Grant street Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Carl G. Bader officiating. A quartette, including Miss Leila Wright, Mrs. E. J. Hancock, John Moore and F. W. Arndt, sang “O Love that Wilt Not Let Me Go” and “Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me”, with Miss Gertrude Mead at the piano. Interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
