FORMER COUNTIAN DIES AT HOOPER

Mrs. Lavina King Mendenhall, an old and respected citizen of both Washington and Dodge counties, dies at her home in Hooper Monday night after an illness of some weeks, at the age of 79.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Methodist church in Hooper, with Rev. George officiating.

Lavina King was born at Clinton, Mo. December 16, 1850, and grew to womanhood and was married there to William Mendenhall on January 28, 1875. They came to Nebraska shortly after their marriage and settled in Washington county near Herman, and a few years later came to Dodge county and settled on a farm near Nickerson. After the death of Mr. Mendenhall in 1913, Mrs. Mendenhall moved to Hooper where she has since resided.

She is survived by six daughters, two sisters and three brothers. One sister, Mrs. Nels Johnson, resides at Herman.
