August Larson passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. T. Barton last Wednesday evening at the age of 88 years. He was one of the early settlers of Washington county and endured many of the hardships that were characteristic of pioneer life. He came to America from Sweden in 1866 and took up a homestead near Orum. In 1869 he was married to Miss Nella Langestrom, and to this union five children were born. The wife and three children preceded him in death. Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. Theresia Barton, Mrs. Ellen Johnson, his son’s wife, Mrs. Lucy Larson, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the Orum Lutheran church last Saturday afternoon, the Rev. Larsen, assisted by Rev. Edgar, officiating, after which interment was made in the Orum cemetery.
