FREMONT MAN IN FATAL ACCIDENT

J. R. Bader, prominent Fremont business man and the father of Rev. Carl G. Bader of this city, was instantly killed shortly after 2:00 o’clock last Saturday afternoon when he was struck by a Union Pacific special passenger train near the Union street crossing in Fremont. Bader, who is head of the Parlor Furniture and Mattress company at Fremont, was walking to his work and apparently did not hear the train coming from behind him.

He was born in Hugsweier, Baden, Germany July 24, 1864, and after attending the public schools there he came to the United States and took a commercial course in a college at Nebraska City. He was employed for a number of years in that city, and in 1890 he came to Fremont to work in a furniture store. Late that year he entered the furniture business at Fremont, which he continued up until about two years ago, since which he has devoted all of his time to the furniture and mattress factory business. He was married to Emma E. Elsner at Arlington in May, 1886.

Mr. Bader had been active in Fremont affairs during his long residence in that city. He was a supporter of the Methodist church and on a number of occasions he filled the pulpit at the local pastorate.

Surviving him are his widow, who at present is visiting a daughter in California; three sons, Rev. Carl G. Bader of Blair, Ernest of Omaha, Jean R. of Chicago; and two daughters, Mrs. Clarence King of Fremont and Mrs. Thomas F. Doyle of Oakland, California.
