HERMAN LADY DIES WEDNESDAY

Mrs. C. E. Hoover Succumbs to Heart Attack

Mrs. C. E. Hoover died suddenly of heart failure at her home at Herman last Wednesday morning. Although her health had not been very good for some years, especially since being seriously injured a few years ago, she had been feeling better than usual recently.

As Miss Emma Squires she was born November 16, 1866 in Scioto county, Ohio near the town of Ironton. In 1875 she came with her parents to Blair where they lived for four years. In September, 1886 she was married to Curtis E. Hoover and in 1899 they moved to Herman where they have since resided.

Mrs. Hoover is survived by her husband; three sons, John E. and Herman, Jesse of this city and Harvey of National City, California; and two daughters, Mrs. Alice Stokes of Harvey, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Verna living at home. She also leaves a brother, Alfred E. Squires of national City, California.

#2-29 Aug, 1929 - The Enterprise

Mrs. C. E. Hover died very suddenly Wednesday morning, Aug. 21, 1929 at her home here of heart failure. She has been a sufferer of diabetes for some time, but has been up and around. With her daughter, Verna, she was working in the yard trimming raspberries when the attack came. She was carried into the house by her son, Ed, who heard her call but death had already come. She has been a resident of Herman for thirty years. Miss Erna Squires was born in Scioto county, Ohio, near Ironton Nov. 16, 1866. She came with her parents to Nebraska in 1875. They resided at Blair where she attended school. Four years later they moved to Bellevue. She was married to Curtis E. Hover Sept. 14, 1886 at Omaha. In August 1899 they came to Herman and purchased the property which has since been their home. To them seven children were born, two having passed away, one son in infancy and a daughter, Sylvia at the age of ten. Beside the husband, she is survived by three sons: John E. of Herman; Jesse C. of Blair; Harve of National city, Calif., and two daughters, Mrs. Alice Stokes of Hardy, Sas., Canada, and Miss Verna at home. She also leaves on brother, Alfred Squires of National City, Calif., and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon at two thirty. An Advent minister from Lincoln gave the funeral address. The singing was by Mrs. C. E. Johnson, Mrs. Geo. Lowe, Fred Robertson and C. R. Gray, with Miss Louise Larsen at the piano. Burial was made in the Herman cemetery.
