#2-FRED BEHRENDT FOUND DEAD

LIVED ALONE IN NORTHWEST PART OF BLAIR NEAR THE ROBERT WILSON PLACE. FUNERAL SATURDAY

Fred Behrendt was found dead on his cot last Thursday by his neighbor, Hans Frahm, who went in to take him a calendar he had gotten for him downtown. He had been dead for some time for he was cold and the room was also.

It is believed he died Tuesday, New Year’s Day, for that was the last time he was seen about the place. He was out to empty ashes in the morning and evidence showed he was preparing his dinner when stricken and he laid down on the cot. There was but little ashes in the stove so he hadn’t had much fire since emptying the ashes Tuesday.

The funeral services was held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, Rev. P.N. Norlin, of Herman, officiating. The music was furnished by a quartette from Herman, also that being his old home. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery by the side of his wife, whose death occurred some eight years ago.

Mr. Behrendt was born 78 years ago last September, grew to manhood and was married in Germany. He had lived on a farm west of Herman for a good many years, where his only son, William, and wife, live; also his only daughter, Mrs. Fred Kubie and husband. They two with six grandchildren are the only close surviving relatives.
