MRS. HEALEY VICTIM OF SHORT ILLNESS

Dies at Home on Colfax Street On Friday

This community was shocked last week by the sudden death of Mrs. Patrick Healey at her home on west Colfax street last Friday following an illness of but a few days’ duration. As Elizabeth Green she was born at West Branch, Iowa on October 1, 1859. Her early days were spent in Iowa and in 1883 she moved with her parents to Creighton.

In 1885 she was united in marriage with Patrick Healey and shortly thereafter they moved to Hay springs, Nebraska, taking up a homestead and being one of the early pioneers of western Nebraska. In 1893 they returned to Creighton and in 1916 they moved to Blair where they have since resided. Eleven children were born to this happy union, two sons dying in infancy, while another son, Michael died in 1918. A daughter, Elizabeth, died in 1925.

Mrs. Healey was admired for her spirit of optimism and unfailing devotion to duty, a practical application of her own life to the teachings of her master. She was ready at all times to give of her time and devotion to those in need. She was held in high esteem by those who came in personal contact with her.

She is survived by her husband, a son, A. F. Healey of Casper, Wyoming; six daughters, Mrs. W. P. East of Sheridan, Wyoming, Mrs. A. H. Ellbogen of Woorland, Wyoming, Miss Catherine Healey and Mrs. Clarice Knopsnider of Albuquerque, N.M., Miss Nelle Healey of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Don Metzler of Herman; and five brothers, John, Joseph, Patrick, William and Daniel Green. Five grandchildren also survive her.

Funeral services were conducted from the Blair Catholic church Sunday afternoon, the Rev. C. A. Beyersdorfer officiating, after which interment was made in Blair cemetery. Those from out of town attending the funeral included: Mr. and Mrs. John Green, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Green, Tom Green, George Green, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Porter, Agnes Porter, Mrs. Agnes McAvoy, Mrs. E. C. Abbott, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Healey and children and Frank Healey all of Omaha, Mr. and Mr. E. J. Healey of Creighton and Daniel Healey of Hay Springs.
