RICHARD MURRAY DIES ON FRIDAY

Richard Murray died at the family home on east South Street last Friday evening following an illness of lengthy duration. He was born in Omaha April 28, 1873, and two years later with his parents he moved to a farm four miles west of Blair. In the spring of 1888 he met with an accident that caused the loss of a limb.

He attended the Blair schools, and after graduating from the high school, he attended business college in Omaha and later worked as operator for the Union Pacific in Omaha. He was also operator for the Northwestern in Blair, but returned to farming which he followed up until 1923 when he moved to Blair. He was assessor of Blair township for several years, and also was census taker. He was very industrious and acquired extensive land holdings around Blair. Since 1923 he has been in failing health.

Funeral services were held from the Catholic church Monday morning, the Rev. C. A. Beyersdorfer officiating, after which interment was made in Blair cemetery. Surviving him are three brothers, John Murray, a twin brother, and Thomas and Dan Murray; and three sisters, Mrs. W. A.VanHuss, Mrs. P. J. Mackin and Mrs. W. D. Lewis. His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
