OLIN HOPEWELL DIES AT OMAHA

Expires at Omaha Hospital Following Stomach Trouble

Olin Hopewell died at an Omaha hospital early last Saturday morning from complications following stomach trouble. He was taken sick the 21st day of May and a week later was taken to Omaha for treatment.

Mr. Hopewell was born September 6, 1870 in Missouri, and came with his parents to Tekamah ten years later. He attended the schools at Tekamah, and later moved with his parents to Central City where he received his academic education at a college there.

He took up the study of law at the state university in Lincoln, and was admitted to practice in 1893. Mr. Hopewell was a stellar member of the university grid teams at Nebraska for four years, and a few years ago was given the distinction of all time center of the Nebraska University football teams. Following his graduation from the university, he returned to Tekamah and took up the practice of law. in 1902 he was married to Mary A. Reyman at Tekamah, and to this union two children were born, both of whom survive him. In 1914 the family moved to Blair where Mr. Hopewell was engaged in various business. He held a wide acquaintance in Burt and Washington counties, and had a host of friends who thought highly of him.

He leaves to mourn his loss his bereaved wife, a daughter, Elizabeth, and one son, Bayard, both at home; a brother, Ernest Hopewell of Boise, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. Belle Powers of Lincoln and Mrs. Corbin of Wenachaa, Washington; and a half sister, Mrs. Nan Lockhart of Decatur. Funeral services were held from the family home at 2:30 o’clock Monday afternoon with Rev. A. F. Newell officiating. Miss Ethel Mead rendered several beautiful solos at the services. Interment was made in Tekamah cemetery.
