WASHINGTON COUNTY PIONEER CALLED

Mrs. Belinda J. Banks, a pioneer resident of Washington county, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. H. Wulff, last Saturday morning, September 13,1930. The deceased, as Belinda Jane Fox, was born November 30, 1842 at Yorkshire, England, and at the age of two years came to America with her parents and settled in Chicago, Illinois where she grew to womanhood. On August 22, 1861 she was united in marriage to William Banks, and to this union eight children were born, seven daughters and one son; two daughters dying in infancy and the son, William T. Banks, passing away in the year 1912 at the age of 36 years.

In 1866 the family came to Washington county, Neb., where they settled on a homestead near Rose Hill and where later they were numbered among the founders of the Rose Hill church and cemetery, the same being named after the Rose Hill cemetery in Chicago, their old home. About 1885 the family moved to Blair, and here they made their home until Mr. Banks was called to the Great Beyond. During the later years of her life, Mrs. Banks made her home with her daughters, Mrs. Lamb of Fremont and Mrs. Wulff of Blair. Grandma Banks was dearly beloved by all who knew her and will be sadly missed by her daughters and many friends.

The surviving daughters are Mrs. Addie Ide, Presto, S. D.; Mrs. Emma Lamb, Fremont; Mrs. Lizzie Wulff, Blair; Mrs. Belle Gowran, Seattle Wash., and Mrs. Edna Kusy, Omaha, Nebraska.

Funeral services were conducted at the Rose Hill church Monday afternoon with Rev. Carl G. Bader officiating, after which interment was made in the Rose Hill cemetery.
