LOUISE AUGUSTA MATTHIESEN

Louise Augusta Matthiesen was born in Augustenburg, Germany Jan. 17, 1841.

When 29 years old she came, in 1870, with three brothers to make her home with them in the United States. During all the years since, she has lived in this place, having thus been a resident of Blair for 60 years.

Her passing, on August 23, 1931 at the very great age of 90 years, 7 months and 6 days, removes from earth the last of the four who left their Fatherland so long ago to make their way in a new country.

As a girl, Miss Matthiessen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in her native land.

She never married. In her later years she has lived quietly in her home on west Colfax street, having outlived nearly every one of the companions and friends of her earlier years.

She is survived by one nephew, Mr. Ed Matthiessen of this city, and by two nieces, the Misses Meta and Bertha Matthiesen.

The funeral services were held at the home of her nephew, Ed Matthiessen on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. A. F. Newell officiating, and interment was made in the Blair Cemetery.
