MRS. AUGUSTA HALL

Mrs. Augusta Hall, guest of the Home for the past eight years, passed away Sunday morning, September 13 at the age of 87 years. Deceased was born in Maine, where she resided until 1883 when, with her husband, Wm. L. Hall, she came to Washington County, Nebraska. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Farnsworth had preceded them to Nebraska, settling on a farm near Spiker in the late sixties.

To Mr. and Mrs. Hall four children were born, two of whom passed away in Maine before the family came west, and two after they had made this their home.

Mr. and Mrs. Hall were both remarkable people, Mr. Hall being a distant relative of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and a man of education and refinement. Mrs. Hall was also a woman of more than ordinary ability and education, and of a character that is rarely met. It is the pleasure of the writer to have known both Mr. and Mrs. Hall, and to have known them was to respect them, and we feel that in her passing we have lost a real friend.

Living to such a ripe old age, her direct relatives were for the most part gone. She leaves but on sister, Mrs. Emma Eager of Lincoln and a number of close friends to mourn her death.

The funeral services, with Rev. W. C. George officiating, were held Tuesday afternoon, September 15, and interment made in the Blair Cemetery.
