Norman Franke, 75

Services for Norman Franke, 75, of Fremont who died January 25, 1994, at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont were Friday, January 28 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Donald Levenhagen and Rev. David Loeschen officiated. Burial was in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery north of Arlington.

Norman Franke was born May 2, 1918, on the family farm in the rural Arlington/Fontanelle/Nickerson area to William A. and Hilda Biermann Franke.

He farmed with his father until his father moved to Fremont. He then continued farming until 1953 when he moved into Fremont. There he was employed by the former Fremont Cake & Meal. He then worked in the maintenance department of Midland College until retiring in 1984.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Fremont and was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington.

He married LaVerle Brand at Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle November 18, 1945.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; an infant sister; a sister, Darlene Lorenzen and also by an infant son and infant daughter.

He is survived by his wife, LaVerle; a daughter, Ilene (Mrs. Martin) Smith of Fort Dodge, Iowa; a son, Marvin Franke of Topeka, Kansas; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and three sisters, Ruth (Mrs. Irwin) Dickmeyer of Fremont, Neoma (Mrs. William() Byrd of Fremont, California and Phyllis Scheer of Omaha.

Ludvigsen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
