4 Dec., 1930 - The Enterprise

Charles R. Hawes passed away Wednesday evening, Nov. 26, 1930. He suffered a heart attack while doing his chores, and was dead when found in the barn. His age was 66 years, 17 days. He came to this country at the age of 21 years, and lived on the farm two miles south of Dale until his death. He leaves to mourn, his wife, one son, Dr. Fred Hawes of Omaha and Mrs. Buena Lynch of Birmingham, Ala. The funeral was held at the Elk City church Saturday at 2 p.m. Interment was made at Elk City cemetery.
