Hiatt, Eliza Hall 9/3/1930

4 Sept., 1930 - The Enterprise

MRS. ELIZA Hiatt

Eliza Hall was born in Albany, N. Y., June 30, 1847 and died Sept. 3, 1930, a little past 85 years of age.

She was married Dec. 3, 1864 to John Wesley Hiatt at Lynville, Ia.

Five children were born to this union: Ahiglie, who died Dec. 10, 1922, Mary Geneva (Mrs. Alfred Hester) who died Sept. 8 1926; Laura, Mrs. O. F. Carmichael of Blair, John, who died in infancy, and Joseph, who died at the age of 12 years.

She came to Nebraska with her husband and two small children, settling at Fontanelle, then a frontier of the west. The Indians camped about this pioneer home and many hardships were endured here. In the fall of 1878 the family moved to Blair which has since been her home. She was known and loved by many and the kind and unassuming deeds done by her hands are remembered by her neighbors and friends where she lived so long. She was baptized and became a member of the Christian church years ago which she attended until she lost her hearing and could no longer take part in the services.

She leaves beside her daughter, five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Christian church with Rev.Hargett officiating and interment in the Blair cemetery.
