4 Sept., 1930 - The Enterprise

MRS. M. E. HENRI

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 2 for Mrs. M. E. Henri of this city, whose death occurred Tuesday, August 26 by drowning. She disappeared from their home on that date, and was traced to the river where her tracks were discovered leading to the water’s edge. The body was recovered at a point near Council bluffs on Monday, Sept. 1, and her daughter, Mrs. E. V. Capps of this city was immediately notified.

Arrangements were made to bring the body to Blair and preparations for burial followed.

Margaret Ella Henri was born at Peru, Indiana Oct. 25, 1862, and was the daughter of the late B. C. Bond of this city.

She was reared in Monticello, Ill. and taught school for five years.

In 1875 she was married to Dr. J. M. Henri, a graduate of a medical school in Chicago. Two children were born to this union, Mrs. E. V. Capps of this city with whom Mrs. Henri made her home and an infant son who lived but a few weeks.

For a number of years Mrs. Henri cared for her aged father and they both made their home with Mr. and Mrs. Capps for some time.

Mrs. Henri was a very intelligent and well read woman. Her friends delighted to visit with her because of her broad knowledge of things in general. She was a valued member of the Monday Afternoon Club, a study club of this city, where she will be sadly missed.

Funeral services were held at the Capps home and at the Blair cemetery, where the body was laid to rest. Rev. A. F. Newell of the Congregational church officiated.

The sympathy of the community goes out to the daughter, Mrs. E. V. Capps, who has guarded and cared for her mother for years. The shock was almost more than human endurance could stand.
