OBITUARY

Lucy Jones, wife of Andrew Jones, well known and highly respected in this city, passed away last Thursday noon, August 21 at the hospital of the Soldiers’ Home at Grand Island. Her death was the result of a fall the Sunday previous which broke her hip and from which on account of her advanced age, she was unable to recover.

Mrs. Jones was born in July, 1844 at Ashtabula, Ohio where she grew to womanhood. On February 7, 1867 she was married to Andrew Jones in Valparaiso, Indiana. In the spring of 1881 they moved to a farm near Herman and have since that time made Washington county their home. About twenty five years ago they moved to this city and bought property and here they lived until a short time ago when they gave up their home and went to the Old Soldiers home at Grand Island.

To Mr. and Mrs. Jones four children were born, all of whom have passed on but one, Fred of Hooper, Neb., being the only child left.

Deceased was a member of the Baptist church and led a consistent Christian life in keeping with the faith to which she clung and which was a great comfort in her hours of trial

The funeral services were held last Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Baptist church at Herman with Rev. Moran of Blair officiating and interment was made in the Herman cemetery.

Besides the son already spoken of, she leaves the husband, the constant companion of a long and happy life and several grandchildren.
