Robert “Lumpy” Schnell 29-Jan-1942 – 29 Apr-2018

Robert “Lumpy” Adam Schnell was born December 29, 1942 to Adam and Doris (Goeschel) Schnell in Lincoln, Nebraska. He passed away April 29, 2018 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 75 years.

Lumpy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960. He served in the United States Army. On May 18, 1972, he married Linda C. Rogers in Lincoln. They moved to Tekamah, Nebraska in 1975. He was the 3rd generation of his family to work for the railroad. He owned the City Café from 1977-1979. He worked as a rural mail carrier for the USPS and retired in 2003 after working there for 25 years.

Lumpy was one of the founders of the Carp City Open. He enjoyed people, politics, warm weather and fishing. He was well known and loved. His greatest joy were his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norman and Ferne (Johnson) Rogers; brother-in-law, Dennis Lee Jurgens.

He is survived by his wife, Linda C. Schnell of Tekamah; sons, Bobby K. (Donna) Schnell of Lincoln; Nicholas J. (Kristen) Schnell of Blair, NE; daughter, Jolene Schnell (Matt Von Seggern) of Uehling, NE; six grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Kay Jurgens of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Rex (Mary) Rogers of Tekamah; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial Service Wednesday May 2, 2:30 PM, Emmanuel Lutheran Church Tekamah, 210 S 12th Street Tekamah, NE 68061

Military honors will follow services at the church. The Schnell family extends an invitation for family and friends to join them at Ronnie’s Wednesday for a last call starting at 5 pm.
