Bucy, Eldon “Codge” 16 Oct 1929 - 5 Jan 2019

Eldon “Codge” Lyle Bucy was born to Clarence “Grit” and Inez (Fetty) Bucy on October 16, 1929, on the family farm north of Tekamah, Nebraska. He passed away January 5, 2019 at Providence Place, Assisted Living Facility in Fremont, Nebraska.

Eldon grew up with a love of fishing, which he enjoyed on the Missouri River, with his dad on the family farm.

When his older brothers enlisted during World War II, he left school to help on the farm. During the Korean War, Eldon served in the Navy as a Gunner's Mate.

After the war, Eldon returned to take over a portion of the family farm. He married Connie Haley in 1956 and to this union five children were born. Eldon later married LaDonna (Borgelt) Wenz, on November 25, 1992.

During retirement Eldon and LaDonna moved to an acreage outside of Tekamah, where his love of farming turned to an ever-expanding garden and raising a variety of animals including peacocks, turkeys, guinea, ducks, geese, chickens and Shetland ponies. His children benefited each fall, receiving a generous gunny sack full of their potato harvest.

Eldon was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Blair, Nebraska. He was strong in his faith in the Lord. The three large crosses he erected on the hilltop of their acreage were seen by many passersby on Highway 75.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; all of his siblings: brothers John, Howard, Dean, Earl, Leo and sisters Doris Johnson, Larie Way.

Survivors include his loving wife, LaDonna; five children: Teresa (Dan) Tierney of Omaha, Peter Bucy of Omaha, Tami (Tom) Christoffersen of Blair, Kathy (Lynn) Petersen of Decatur, Judy (Keith) Finken of Defiance, IA; step-son, Wayne (Kelley) Wenz of Omaha; 25 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; in-laws, Yvonne Bucy of TX, Joan Bucy of WI, Ray Johnson of MO, David Way of Fremont, Marian (Milo) Jeppesen of Blair and Robert (Trish) Borgelt of Blair, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
