Cachelin, Columbia (Dotson) 4/11/1930

17 Apr., 1930 - The Enterprise

Elizabeth Cachelin received word Friday of the death of her aunt, Mrs. Columbia Cachelin of Los Angeles, Calif. The remains were shipped to Spearfish, S. D., her old home, for burial Sunday, Apr. 13th. Mrs. Cachelin came to DeSoto in the old pioneer days with her father, Captain Dodson, owner of a steamboat. The Dodson family lived here for a number of years and during that time Miss Columbia Dodson was married to Edward Cachelin, son of Constant Cachelin. During the Black Hills gold rush the Dodsons left here to try their luck prospecting. Mr. and Mrs. Cachelin did not go out until some years later, but in the meantime Mr. Cachelin worked at his trade of blacksmithing here and in Blair, being one of Blair’s pioneer blacksmiths.
