Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Ehninger, who passed away here at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. W. Schoettger on Thursday, were conducted from the Schoettger home on Friday afternoon at three o’clock, Rev. Adrian J. Edgar and Rev. N. A. Martin officiating. The deceased was born in Germany Nov. 6, 1835 and came to America when 18 years of age, locating at Buffalo, N. Y. where she was married to John Ehninger on March 6, 1865. Later they moved to Niles, Mich. where they made their home until the death of Mr. Ehninger 23 years ago. Since that time, Mrs. Ehninger has lived here with her daughter. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Ehninger of which only three survive: Mrs. H. W. Schoettger of this place, Henry Ehninger of Hooper and William Ehninger of Lyons. A large number of out of town relatives and friends attended the funeral and the floral tributes were numerous. Mrs. Schoettger and her brother, Henry Ehninger accompanied the remains to Niles, Mich. where interment was made in the family lot.
