FT. CALHOUN AND VICINITY

After a lingering illness, Elmer S. Craig passed away on June 22 at the government hospital near Prescott, Arizona, where he went three weeks before his death. In September, 1917 he enlisted in the army from Harlan, Iowa, and was later sent to the front in France, where he was twice wounded and gassed. Elmer took part in the following engagements: St. Mihiel, Verdun and Meuse-Argonne, returning to the United States in April, 1919. He was born in Fort Calhoun, Feb. 11, 1895. He leaves to mourn his loss his mother, Mrs. Augusta Craig, one sister, Mrs. Mabel Kuiken and one brother, Earl and many other relatives. The funeral was held from the Presbyterian church on Thursday, June 27, Rev. Vanderlippe of Florence officiating. Interment was made in the Fort Calhoun cemetery.
