NATIVE OF COUNTY DIES IN LINCOLN

Wednesday’s State Journal of Lincoln, Neb. contained the death notice of Mrs. Geo. Holden of that city. Mrs. Holden was the daughter of a pioneer Washington County family, her father being T. P. Kennard, know to old timers as Tom Kennard.

Mrs. Holden was born at DeSoto, Neb. sixty five years ago as Lulu Kennard, and may be remembered by some of the older residents here. Her father was first Secretary of State in Nebraska, and a member of the commission of three which selected Lincoln as the state capital.

The little village of Kennard received its name from Tom Kennard, who in later years always liked to have his name pronounced with the accent on the last syllable.
