Mrs. Anna Catherine Hilgenkamp, one of the early pioneers of this vicinity, died at her home northeast of town Saturday evening on the same farm where she has lived for the past fifty seven years. The deceased was born in Westphalen, Germany on Dec. 18 1849, and came to the United States in 1852 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jobst Giesselman, who settled at Quincy, Ill. In 1867 she came west with the family, locating northeast of town, where she spent the remainder of her life. On Sept. 15, 1870 she was married to Henry Hilgenkamp who preceded her in death 20 years ago. Eight children were born to this union, six of whom survive her: Mrs. Lena Ectenkamp of Arlington, W. H. Hilgenkamp of Arlington, Mrs. Augusta Schorman of Staplehurst, Mrs. Tillie Walkenhorst, Ed Hilgenkamp and Henry Hilgenkamp, all of Arlington; one brother Gottlieb Giesselman of Arlington; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Hartung of Quincy, Ill; Mrs. Fredericks Hilgenkamp, Mrs. Louisa Votth and Mrs. Frank Scheer, all of Arlington. 23 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren also survive her. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon with the pastor, Rev. G. M. Wolters in charge.
