Mrs. Cornelia B. Rice was born on July 6, 1857 in Blackstone, Ill., Livingston county. She was the daughter of John Wesley Pilcher and Eliza MacIntosh, and the widow of Benjamin Rice. The relatives which she leaves are nephews and nieces who loved their aunt very much.

Mrs. Rice came to Crowell Home on August 10, 1918 from Fairmont, Neb., and has been a beloved member of the Home for thirteen years.

Mrs. Rice was a lovable character. She had a personality which was admired by everyone and which endeared her to all those that knew her. She was a patient sufferer and was perfectly content up to her last moments.

Mrs. Rice passed away at Crowell Memorial Home on January 30, 1931 after she had suffered for a week and a half from a light stroke. She was conscious up to twelve hours before her death.

A short service was held at the funeral parlors conducted by Rev. Pardun before the body was taken overland to Glasco, Kan. for burial.
