Christensen, Michael “Mike” D.

April 10, 1962 ~ February 17, 2019

Michael "Mike" Dean Christensen, age 56, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019, at Dunklau Gardens.

Michael D. Christensen was born April 10, 1962, to Robert and Darlene (Dostal) Christensen. He was baptized at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School in 1980.

Mike shot trap for the high school trap team and his team had the distinction of winning the Cornhusker National title. He continued shooting league and registered shoots throughout his life. He won many awards and was most proud of shooting 100 straight from the 27 yard line. For several years, shooting 100 straight singles came easy to Mike and he commemorated this stretch by getting custom license plates "100 STR8". Mike and Wendy spent many years taking their vacation to attend the Nebraska State Trapshoot.

He loved traveling to Texas to spend time hunting and fishing with his brother Jeff. Their fishing trips to Canada were Mike's favorite vacations.

Mike was very handy and tackled many projects when he and Wendy built their house, often with the help of his dad. He always had several projects going at once and he was always planning the next one.

Michael Christensen married Wendy Sass on June 26, 1993, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bennington.

He worked many years at Platte Chemical Company and most recently worked at Royal Canin (Previously Natura).

Mike was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, trapshooting, mowing the lawn, and being outside.

In fighting this disease Mike was the strongest person--he fought hard until the very end. Starting in 2007, and again when the fight increased in 2013, with a 5 year battle to keep the disease in check. #IRONMIKE
