Obituary for Bonnie D. Crippen

Bonnie D. (Giles) Crippen found peace Monday, April 1,2019 at the Crowell Home in Blair, Nebraska.

Bonnie was born June 4, 1931 in rural Tekamah, Nebraska to Darious and Pearl (Price) Giles. She attended country school and graduated from Tekamah High School in 1950. She married Sidney Crippen of Lyons, Nebraska on October 12, 1950. Three children were blessed to this union: Cheri, Teresa and Dee. Bonnie and Sidney lived in Tekamah, Blair, Stanton, Niobrara; for many years they worked as “Relief Managers” for Motel 6.

She worked as a housewife, waitress, nursing assistant and restaurant owner. Bonnie enjoyed cards, casino games, dancing and roller skating when she was young. Additionally, she loved visiting and being with her children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Darious and Pearl; sisters, Daphne and Carma; brothers, Bobbie and Lonnie.

She is survived by her husband, Sidney; children: Cheri (Randy) Gregg of Seattle, WA, Teresa (Terry) Hanzlik of Omaha, NE and Dee (Laurie) Crippen of Fort Calhoun, NE; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Linda Caldwell and Wanda Blankenbeckler; brother, Kenny Giles; a host of relations and friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Tekamah, Nebraska cemetery gravesite for Sidney and Bonnie Crippen on Saturday, September 24th at 10:30 AM. All family and friends of the Crippen family, if you wish to help celebrate their lives, please attend. Following the service, the Crippen children will host a luncheon for those who attend the service at the Chatt Community Center in Tekamah, Nebraska. In case there is inclement weather, the Celebration of Life service will be moved to the Chatt Community Center in Tekamah, Nebraska at 10:30 AM. Services will be officiated by Pastor Russ Foust of Grace United Methodist Church of Kennard, Nebraska. #2 Sidney and Bonnie Crippen

Bonne Crippen was born on June 4, 1931 in rural Tekamah, Nebraska, to Darious and Pearl Giles, she died on April 1, 2019 at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair. Sidney D. Crippen was born on March 11, 1930, in rural Lyons, Nebraska to Thomas and Ella Bacon. He passed away at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska on July 20, 2022.

Bonnie attended country school and graduated from Tekamah High School in 1950. Sidney attended country school and graduated from Lyons High School in 1949.

Sidney and Bonnie married on October 12, 1950. Three children were blessed to the union: Cheri, Teresa, and Darious “Dee”.

Sidney held many jobs throughout his life including being Sheriff of Burt County Nebraska, a policeman, butcher, plumber, clerk, and beekeeper. Bonnie worked as a housewife, waitress, nursing assistant and restaurant owner. Sid and Bonnie both traveled the country as “Relief Managers” for Motel 6. Bonnie and Sidney lived in Tekamah, Blair, Stanton, Niobrara, Sioux City, IA. during their lives.

Sidney and Bonnie enjoyed cards, casino games, dancing and roller skating when they were young. Sidney and Bonnie loved their time with the family as well as socializing with many friends. Sid served as a Boy Scout Troop Leader, he was on the school board in Niobrara and both Sidney and Bonnie were members of the Presbyterian and Methodist churches.

Sidney and Bonnie were both preceded in death by their parents, 13 sisters and brothers and are survived by their children, Cheri (Randy) Gregg of Seattle, Teresa (Terry) Hanzlik of Omaha, Dee (Laurie) Crippen of Fort Calhoun, sister Linda Caldwell and six grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
