Mrs. Doris Rathjen Asmussen was born in Denberg, Germany March 1, 1885, and passed away December 19, 1932 at the home of her son, Otto Asmussen. She came to America with her father when a small girl, and has lived in this vicinity since. Since her husband’s passing in 1911 she resided in town until the last few years when failing health caused her to live with her son. She was a sister of the late Charles and Nicholas Rathjen. Funeral services were held from the local church Thursday, and interment made in the Fort Calhoun cemetery. Out-of-town attendants at the funeral services of Mrs. Doris Asmussen were: Hans and Carl Rathjen and Carl Luhrmann, all of Wausau, Nebr., Henry Mickels, Mrs. and Mrs John Schwager of Omaha, and Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Roth of Benson.
