W. H. CHRISTIANSEN

W. H. Christiansen passed away at his home Nov. 16, 1932 at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 9 days. He was born in Chicago, Ill., Oct. 7, 1866, moved with his parents to Omaha when about a year old, and then to Washington County when he was 7 years old. He was the oldest of a family of twelve children, and the first of these to pass away. He was married to Petra Hansen Febr. 26, 1887, and moved to his farm in 1888 where he has since resided.

To this union seven children were born, the two oldest preceding him in death. Frank, the eldest died at the age of nine months, and Clarence at the age of eighteen years.

Surviving him are his wife and children, Mrs. J. C. Larsen of Fremont, Chris W. of Blair, Harry E. of Fremont, Mrs. J. A. Jespersen of Herman and Harland, also of Herman. His brothers are Lawrence of Omaha, Fred of Telbasta, George of Hartington, Chris of Akron, Colo. and Walter of Wisner, Nebr. The sisters are Mrs. Nellie Laursen of Uehling, Mrs. Walter Fredricksen of San Pedro, Calif., Mrs. Lucy Larsen of Arlington, Mrs. Walter Clausen of Arlington, Mrs. James Mose of Blair and a host of other relatives and friends.

He has been a member of the Lutheran faith since childhood.

The funeral services will be held on Friday at the home on York Creek at 1 o’clock p.m. and at 2 o’clock in Blair at the First Lutheran church, and interment will be made in the Thone Cemetery.

W.H. CHRISTIANSEN DIES AT FARM HOME

RESIDENT OF COUNTY FOR 59 YEARS WILL BE BURIED FRIDAY

W.H. Christiansen, a resident of Washington County for the past 59 years, who had lived on a farm seven miles southwest of Herman since 1888, died Wednesday morning, November 16, at the age of 66 years. He was one of the best known older farmers in the county and his death came after an illness of several weeks.

Born in Chicago, October 7, 1866, Mr. Christiansen moved with his parents to Omaha when he was one year old and came to Washington County with them when he was seven. He was the oldest of a family of 12 and the first of them to die.

On February 26, 1887, Mr. Christiansen was married to Miss Petra Hansen and moved to the farm he had occupied since. Seven children were born to this union, two of whom preceded him in death. Frank, the eldest, at the age of nine months and Clarence when 18 years of age. Surviving him are his widow and five children, Mrs. J.C. Larsen of Fremont, Chris W. Christiansen of Blair, Harry E. of Fremont, Mrs. J.A. Jespersen and Harland Christiansen, both of Herman.

Also surviving him are his brothers and sisters, Lawrence of Omaha, Fred of Telbasta, George of Hartington, Chris of Akron, Colo., and Walter of Wisner, and Mrs. Nellie Laursen, Uehling, Mrs. Walter Fredricksen of San Pedro, Cal., Mrs. Lucy Larsen, Arlington, Mrs. James Mose of Blair, Mrs. Theodore Williamson of Arlington and Mrs. Walter Clausen of Hartington, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, a short service at the farm home at one o’clock being followed with a service at the First Lutheran church in Blair at two. Rev. Hans C. Jersild will officiate. Mr. Christiansen had been a member of the Lutheran faith since childhood. Burial will be in the Thone cemetery near Herman.

All of Mr. Christiansen’s children and all his brothers and sisters with the exception of Mrs. Fredricksen and Chris are expected to be at the services.
