MRS. JOHN K. WINCHELL CALLED

Mrs. John K. Winchell, a resident of this county since 1881, passed away at the Soldiers’ Home at Grand Island Oct. 15, 1932 at the ripe old age of 80 years.

Deceased was born in Ohio March 10, 1852, and was married to John K. Winchell April 1, 1874 in Iowa where they continued to make their home until their removal to this county in 1881.

Surviving her are a son, Merton, of this city; a brother, James H. Nobles of Asotin, Washington; a sister, Mrs. Mary M. Pierson of Torrington, Wyoming and a granddaughter, Irene Winchell of Blair.

The husband passed on a number of years ago, and since that time she has divided the time between the Soldiers’ Home and with her son, Merton in Blair, who deeply grieves her death.

The body was brought to Blair where the funeral services were held from the Bendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 18th, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Thus ends the life of another old settler, a mother who knew the privations of the early times, and who met them with that brave spirit of those times. She was a woman respected and honored by her friends who join with the relatives in their grief over her departure.
