FREDERICK REYNARD, SR. DEAD

The death of Fred Reynard, Sr. at Oakland, Neb. was reported here last Monday. Deceased was a pioneer of Washington County, residing on a farm south of Arlington where he was a large landowner, coming to that locality in 1857. He came here from the California gold mines and was an educated, well informed man, a native of Germany, but more French than German in his speech and characteristics. A number of years ago he located at Oakland, engaging in the banking business there, and later acquired the Oakland Flouring Mill property which he managed in person up to the time of his death, having disposed of his banking interests there some years ago. One son, Frederick, Jr., a large landowner in the Masters School neighborhood southeast of Arlington, and a daughter, Mrs. Jungbluth, still reside in this county. Charlie Cook, brother to Postmaster Cook of this city, married another daughter who died some years since. Another son, Ed, was engaged with his father in the Oakland bank some years ago, and later associated with Charlie Cook in the bank at Wausau, this state. Deceased was 95 years of age at the time of his death.
