FORMER BLAIR MINISTER DIES IN EAST

A news item in the Lincoln State Journal last Sunday contained a notice of the death of Rev. Chas. E. Tingley of Yonkers, N.Y. at St. John’s hospital at Yonkers recently.

The article states that Rev. Tingley was born in Blair, his father being a pioneer Congregational minister here. He was a Nebraska university graduate with a master’s degree and also of its law school. He practiced law in Lincoln for five years, and then entered the ministry after his theological work at Chicago.

Rev. Tingley came to Blair in Dec., 1898 and was ordained here as a Baptist minister Feb., 1899. He served the Blair Baptist church until 1902 when he resigned his pastorate here. Many Blair people, including members of the Baptist church, will remember Rev. Tingley.

Rev. Mr. Tingley was the only man in the Northern Baptist denomination who had experience as secretary of a state convention and of a class A city mission society. He served as a member of the Nebraska, Wyoming, Iowa and Minnesota state convention boards. He leaves a widow, a daughter, Mrs. Marshall B. Barker of Fresno, Calif., and a son, Elbert R. Tingley of Pittsburgh.
