Funeral services were held at the Congregational church on Thursday afternoon for Salomon Pfeiffer who died Monday in Guthrie, Okla. The deceased was born Oct. 6th, 1860 near Stuttgart, Germany. At the age of twenty years he came to America, arriving at Philadelphia on Nov. 4th, 1880. The following spring his parents also came to this country, and the family located at Fontanelle in April, 1881. On Jan. 15th, 1885 he was married to Marie Magdalene Bishoff, and to the union six children were born. He engaged in farming for five years, and then moved to Oklahoma. In the fall of 1892 he assisted his brother, John, in staking a claim in the new country at the opening of the Cherokee land. Later on he returned here where he has since lived, with the exception of spending part of his winters with his children in Oklahoma. Three of his children and his wife preceded him in death. His survivors are a daughter, Mrs. E. A. Clow of Mulhall, Okla.; two sons, John of Covington, Okla. and Albert of Tulsa, Okla; one sister, Mrs. E. H. Woener of Onawa, Ia; and six brothers, Fred C. of Nickerson, G. John of Orlando, Okla; Wm. Henry, and Gottlieb I., all of Arlington and Charles of Sacramento.
