C. M. French, well known resident of Arlington and vicinity, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Plugge after a lingering illness. Clarence Miller French was born on March 25, 1865 at Marion, Iowa. When a child of three years he came with his parents to Arlington, Nebraska, who located six miles northeast of town. He was married to Lena C. Menking on October 18, 1886, and to this union was born eleven children, eight of whom survive him. With the exception of five years spent in Washington County, Colo., Mr. French spent practically all his life on the farm where he specialized in raising thoroughbred cattle and hogs. For the last few years, due to failing health, he has lived mostly with his daughters here in town. His children who survive him are Mrs. Cora Plugge, Mrs. Hazel Spangler and Miss Viola French all of Arlington, Mrs. E. Johnson of Denver; Everett C. French of Fremont, Leslie M. and Clarence K. French of Arlington and Harley E. French of Wayne. Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at the M. E. church with Rev. Adrian J. Edgar in charge. Six nephews of the deceased acted as pallbearers: Allian French, Fred French, Charles French, Harold French, Raymond French and Gifford French. Out of town relatives included his daughter, Mrs. Edith Johnson of Denver, son, Everett French and family of Fremont, his sister, Mrs. Cora Crawen of Omaha, Mrs. Bessie French and family of Blair and Ed Nonnamaker of Omaha.
