DIANE LYNN “DI” MARHENKE, 55 years, 8 months, 22 days, of Oakland, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, Jan 13, 2019, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska.

Diane was born April 22, 1963 in Blair, Nebraska to Carl and Irene (Christoffersen) Marhenke.

Diane’s education was through the special needs services of Mount Olive, 6R and Tekamah-Herman Schools. She has been with North Star Services (Region 4) since her age of 19.

Through her years she has been active in the Oakland, Lyons and West Point communities. Even though she had limited verbal skills, Diane had her way to make sure to greet you with a big hug and ask a series of questions to make sure you were happy.

What’s important to me from Diane. “I never want the every other weekend visit to my parents to end. When I go to my parents I will take as many bags as I want, please don’t tell me I can’t do that! I love my snack business. I enjoy watching sports events especially car races, demo derbies, Husker football games, tractor pulls, school events and camping trips. I love going out to eat. I enjoy giving big hugs, helping others with meals on wheels and taking care of dad when I am home. I enjoy being on the go instead of sit a lot.”

“Are you happy?!!” Diane’s motto. Her positive spirit was very easy going, except when you took her spot in the van. Otherwise, family was very important to her. She enjoyed her trips to Missouri and various family activities.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter and Mary Marhenke; uncles, William, Robert, Richard, David; and Aunt Elizabeth.

Survivors include her parents: Carl and Irene Marhenke of Tekamah, NE; sisters: Mary (Mike) Anderson of Tekamah, Vickie (Mike) Stang of Herman, NE, Janet (Robert) Blair of Maywood, MO; nieces and nephews: Mitchell (Natalie) Anderson of Baltic, SD; Matthew Anderson of Omaha, NE; Kyle Stang and Taylor Fredrickson of Ainsworth, NE; Sarah Stang of Herman; Amy Blair of Maywood, MO; great-nephew: Otto Anderson of Baltic; host of many more friends and community support through North Star.

Thank you all for sharing in her life.
