OLE ERICKSON LINDBERG

Ole Erickson Lindberg was born in Jernskog, Sweden Dec. 12. 1856, and passed away March 17, 1932, aged 75 years, 3 months and five days.

He was married to Carrie Gunnerson (Gunnardotter) of Jernskog, Sweden March 24, 1882. If he had lived until next Thursday, they would have been married fifty years.

Mr. Lindberg and his bride came to America in the same year and settled in Omaha, Nebraska the 29th of April, 1882, and later in the same year they came to Blair. He secured work helping build the piers of the first railroad bridge across the river.

Later he moved to the Rose Hill neighborhood, and lived there about a year, then moved to York Creek near Herman where he spent four years on a farm. He then came to Blair and bought a small home on east Grant street where they have lived forty two years.

He worked as a section man of the railroad, most of the time on the Omaha line, working until by the rules of the road he was retired at the age of seventy.

He was able to do all his work around the home until about two weeks ago when his health failed rapidly. Tender care at home failed to help him, and last Tuesday he was taken to an Omaha hospital so that he might have the best carte that could be given. There he passed away on Thursday afternoon.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife and one son, Nels G., both of Blair, one brother, Magnus Erickson of Oregon City, Oregon, one sister Stina Erickson of Jernskog, Sweden and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lindberg was a good law-abiding citizen, a good husband, and a kind father. He was baptized as a babe and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Sweden when sixteen years of age.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Bendorf Funeral parlors, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral of Ole Lindberg on last Sunday afternoon were: Mrs. and Mr.s Will Flanagan of Herman, Mrs. Lena Thielfoldt and son, Harry, of Herman, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Svendgard and Eddie Thielfoldt of Arlington, Mrs. Clara Hendrickson and son, Arthur, of Calhoun, Mr. and Mrs. John Thielfoldt and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Thielfoldt of Herman.
