3 Mar., 1932 - The Enterprise

This community was shocked Friday when it became known that Charles Metzler, aged 47, had taken his own life by hanging himself at his home northeast of here. He had lived in the Homestead school district the greater part of his life, and was well liked and highly respected. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Methodist church at Tekamah. Burial was made in the Tekamah cemetery.

Believed to have been despondent over financial difficulties, Charles Metzler, a farmer near Herman, committed suicide by hanging himself in a barn on his farm Friday afternoon. Funeral services were held in Tekamah Sunday afternoon, with burial in the cemetery at that place. Mr. Metzler, whose widow was formerly Orpha Moore of Blair, is a brother-in-law of S. I. Moore, farmer north of blair. He is survived by the widow and eight children, two of them married.
