C. M. Christensen of Blair passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 1932 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. C. Debel of west Colfax street. He was born in Denmark Feb. 22, 1859, and was 73 years of age.

He came to America in 1880, making his home in Lincoln. On Sept. 22, 1883 he was married to Maren Knudsen at Lincoln. Here they resided until 1892 when they moved to a farm in Custer county, Nebr. where they lived until 1909 when they moved to Blair, which has since been their home.

Mrs. Christensen died June 6, 1928, and since that time Mr. Christensen has bade his home with his daughter.

When Mr. Christensen first came to Blair, he purchased the feed barn on Front street. After operating it for several years, he commenced buying hogs and continued in this business for a number of years. He was also active in local politics, and filled the office of councilman for a number of years.

Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Christensen, one of whom passed away in infancy. Those living are Anton of New York City, Holger of Chicago and Mrs. Debel of this city. Besides the children just named, he leaves one brother N. C. Christensen of Denmark.

The funeral services will be held from the First Lutheran church of Blair on Friday, Feb. 26 at 2 o’clock with Rev. James N. Lund officiating, and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.

C.M.CHRISTENSEN DIES LATE MONDAY…HAD SERVED ON CITY COUNCIL SEVERAL TERMS

C.M. Christensen, former Blair councilman, and a resident of Blair since 1909, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.C. Debel, Monday evening at eleven o’clock. He had not been in the best of health for the last two years but had only been bedfast the last four months. The deceased was born in Thorslev, Jutland, Denmark, February 22, 1859, his death occurring on his 73 birthday.

Mr. Christensen came to Lincoln in 1880. Three years later he married Maren Knudsen and the family lived in Lincoln until 1893 when they moved to a farm in Custer County. In 1909 the family came to Balir and for a number of years Mr. Christensen operated a feed barn west of what is now the Christensen Lumber offices. He later was engaged in the hog buying business which he followed until he disposed of his business to John McCracken a number of years ago. Mr. Christensen gained a very wide acquaintance in Washington County and was very active in civic and community affairs. He served as councilman from the fourth ward for several terms. He had also been a member of the First Lutheran Church since he came to Blair and had been active in church affairs up until his death. Mrs. Christensen died in June 1928, and one of the four children born to them passed away in infancy.

Mr. Christensen leaves to mourn his loss three children, Mrs. Mary C. Debel of Blair, Anton Christensen of New York City, and Holgar Christensen of Chicago; also a brother, N.C. Christensen in Denmark.

Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at two o’clock from the First Lutheran Church with Rev. James Lund officiating. Burial will be made in the Blair cemetery.
